Alleged cartel weapons found in Texas

LAREDO, Texas, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- U.S. authorities have confiscated a large weapons cache near the Mexican border allegedly belonging to Mexican drug cartels, El Universal reported Saturday.

The cache -- found in the border town of Laredo, Texas -- consisted of both firearms and explosives, said Julie Myers, assistant secretary of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Authorities said the weapons seized were likely used in the ongoing feud between rival Mexican drug cartels known as the Federation and the Gulf Cartel.
