India to support Russia's WTO bid

MOSCOW, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Russia and India will sign a protocol next week about Russia joining the World Trade Organization, Russia's economics ministry has announced.

The diplomatic agreement will be signed Feb. 6 during a three-day visit to India by Russian Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref, a ministry spokesman said Thursday.

During his visit, the Russian minister is expected to meet with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well as with the Indian ministers of economics, information technologies, and finance. He will also visit a technology park in Bangalore, the country's information technology capital, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.

Russia has already completed WTO accession talks with 55 of the 58 member states. It has yet to reach agreements on access to its goods and services markets with the United States, Australia and Colombia.
