Family plans Coretta King's funeral

ATLANTA, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Funeral plans for Coretta Scott King reportedly include a musical memorial at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta and a service at her daughter's church.

King's children are not planning services in Washington or a lying-in-state there, the Washington Post reported, citing individuals close to the family.

King died of cancer Tuesday at the age of 78, almost 38 years after Martin Luther King Jr. was gunned down in Memphis.

The family plans the musical tribute for Monday. King was a music student when she met her husband.

The family has a long association with Ebenezer Baptist, where Martin Luther King Sr. was pastor and where his son's funeral was held.

Bernice King is a minister at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, a 25,000-member mega-church in Lithonia, Ga., where the funeral service is to be held.

Georgia officials have offered to have King's body lie in state at the capitol building, but the family has not responded, the Post reported.

King is to be buried next to her husband.
