BRUSSELS, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Talks in Brussels between Iran and EU officials over Iran's controversial nuclear program wound down Monday no nearer an agreement.
"To be frank, we didn't detect anything new in their approach," John Sawers, a senior British diplomat at the talks told the BBC.
Iranian officials met with the foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany before the United Nations' International Atomic Energy Agency has an emergency meeting Thursday in Vienna.
The IAEA could send the issue to the Security Council with a recommendation for sanctions against Iran, which reopened a nuclear processing facility earlier this month.
Diplomats from the United States, Russia and China have set a meeting with the three European foreign ministers to try to agree a common stance ahead of the Vienna talks.
Iran insists its nuclear program is solely for domestic power production and not part of weapons manufacturing.
