Man arrested in Moscow synagogue stabbing

MOSCOW, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- A man is in custody after allegedly stabbing nine people during a rampage through a Moscow synagogue.

The BBC reports the man is a 20-year-old Moscow resident and a skinhead who yelled "I will kill you" before swinging his knife during evening prayers.

He was captured by the Rabbi Yitzhak Kogan and his son and held until police arrived.

Ambulances were called to the scene and four people are in serious condition.

Russia's Chief Rabbi Berl Lazar called on Russia to address the rash of attacks on Jewish centers and synagogue over the past few years.

He cut short a visit to Israel after the attack.
