Charges sought in Colorado wildfire

WALSENBURG, Colo., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Colorado authorities said they were seeking criminal charges in the Maurico Canyon wildfire that burned 4,500 acres and at least five homes, a report said.

Authorities also said 100 people evacuated from Los Animas and Huerfano, Colo., counties because of the wildfire have been allowed to return home, KKTV in Denver reported.

Investigators said they know the blaze was man-made and Huerfano County sheriff's police were seeking criminal charges.

Firefighters' ongoing efforts to douse the wind-whipped wildfire were aided by snow that covered much of the area.
