Crash victim China's 6th organ donor

SHAOGUAN, China, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A Chinese family has become the country's sixth to donate the organs of a brain-dead person.

The parents agreed to donate the kidneys, liver and corneas of a 25-year-old man who was in a car crash, China Daily reported. The suggestion came from the man's older brother.

The Chinese Society for Organ Transplantation said the father, who suffers from cerebral thrombosis, agreed immediately, knowing how healthy organs could help disease victims. The mother, reluctant at first, decided that transplantation would allow her son in some sense to remain alive.

The transplantation was the second in Guangdong province.
