SAVANNAH, Ga., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Passengers on three Amtrak trains stopped for 29 hours because of a derailed cargo train say train officials didn't do enough.

There were about 800 people on the Miami to New York City Silver Star, Silver Meteor and Auto Trains, CNN reports.

A CSX freight derailed in Savannah, Ga., around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, stopping the trains near there until about 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Passengers said they weren't allowed off to stretch during the wait.

They complained of running out of money for food in the dining car and not being offered any hotel accommodation.

Some toilets stopped working as well.

Amtrak spokesman Cliff Black said the situation wasn't Amtrak's fault.

A caterer was brought in north of Savannah to provide free meals to riders.
