NEW YORK, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Alerted by neighbors' complaints, New York police found the rotting corpse of a man stuffed in a suitcase in a pricey Upper East Side apartment.
Investigators say the 87-year-old man's apparently demented widow kept him in their apartment because she "didn't know what to do with him," the New York Post reported.
Carole Duurloo-Fallon, 67, told police she was taking her husband, James Fallon, to Arizona. She said Fallon, who died two weeks ago, "always wanted to go to Arizona."
Police said the woman's 95-year-old mother also lived in the apartment.
No foul play is suspected, police said.
"He was old and in bad health and he probably passed away peacefully," the dead man's son, William Fallon, told the New York Daily News. He said he thought the women "were confused."
