Mourners go anti-Syria in Tueni funeral

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Mourners of Lebanese journalist and politician Gibran Tueni took to the streets of Beirut shouting anti-Syrian chants.

They also rallied against pro-Syrian President Emile Lahoud, the BBC reports.

Tueni, his driver and a bodyguard were killed Monday by a car bomb.

This comes after U.N. investigators allege Syrian involvement in the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in February.

Weeks later Syria withdrew its troops, stationed in Lebanon for nearly three decades.

At the funeral Tueni's father, Ghassan Tueni, called for a united Lebanon to bury hatred and not take revenge.
