Bank robber tries to do it by telephone

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- A New Zealand bank robber, after holding up a bank once, called the same bank and demanded that the manager meet him outside with money.

The Kiwibank branch in South Auckland called police, who set up the meet with a plainclothes officer substituting for the manager, the New Zealand Herald reported. But the robber failed to show up.

"A phone call was made by the offender saying: 'I've been watching and I don't like what I see,'" police said.

The robber set up another pickup spot. This time, he was told that another employee would be there and police sent another plainclothes officer. Once again the robber was a no-show.
