CHICAGO, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Financial difficulties have led to U.S. Rep Bobby Rush, D-Ill., to receive a second mortgage foreclosure in a week, this time for a weekend condo.
Last week, a bank filed a foreclosure lawsuit against Rush and his wife out of their Chicago home for failing to pay their monthly mortgage, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. This Thursday, the Rushes' Michigan weekend condo is also set to be sold because of another unpaid mortgage.
A spokeswoman said the difficulties were caused by the personal resources he has poured into the Beloved Community Christian Church he created.
Rush is a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
As a congressman, Rush has conducted training sessions to boost the number of minority homeowners by, among other things, offering mortgage counseling.
