Nigeria governor flees Britain

ABUJA, Nigeria, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- The governor of Nigeria's oil-rich Bayelsa region reportedly has returned home after fleeing Britain where he was on bail for money laundering.

Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who is back at work in Nigeria, was granted bail in September on condition he stayed in Britain, the BBC reports. He was arrested in September at London's Heathrow airport and nearly $2 million in cash was found in his London home. Alamieyeseigha has claimed he is innocent.
