DETROIT, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Thirty percent of Detroit's precincts in the Nov. 2 election have vote tally discrepancies that include boxes of not-yet-counted ballots, a report said.
Michigan Director of Elections Chris Thomas said changes in Detroit's vote counts will take place this week or next because of the errors and found ballots, the Detroit News reported.
However, a Thomas spokeswoman said the revisions are not expected to change the election outcome.
Uncounted ballots include a box that was found Tuesday, the newspaper reported.
While Detroit Elections Director Gloria Williams said she wants to recount some ballots by hand to verify machine-counted results, Thomas said he sees no need to do so.
Williams and City Clerk Jackie Currie got into a heated exchange Tuesday with Secretary of State Terri Land over absentee ballots the state is holding for possible investigation by the FBI.
Williams and Currie said Detroit might not be able to complete its vote audit by the Monday deadline.
