Russia, NATO plan anti-terrorist efforts

BRUSSELS, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Russia and NATO plan to hold joint military exercises next year and to discuss anti-terror efforts, the Novosti news agency reported.

"We will open this cooperation sphere for the first time next year," said Vice Admiral Valentin Kuznetsov, Russia's senior military representative in Brussels.

Chief of the Russian General Staff Yury Baluyevsky and NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe General James Jones are scheduled to discuss future cooperation in Mons, Belgium, next week, Kuznetsov said.

In 2006, Russia plans to participate in NATO's anti-terrorism operation in the Mediterranean, and there will be a joint air exercise in Moscow.
