Rockets fired at Israel from Gaza Strip

TEL AVIV, Israel, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Two al-Qassam rockets were fired from the north Gaza Strip at the Israeli town of Sederot without causing casualties, Israeli security sources said Monday.

The sources said the rocket attack occurred overnight, with one falling in the center of Sederot and the other in the outskirts.

The attack appeared to be in retaliation for the killing of three Palestinians in the West Bank town of Kabatiya by Israeli troops who tried to seize Islamic Jihad militants after encircling the house in which they were hiding.

The sources identified one of the dead as Jihad Mohammed Hassan Zakarneh, 29, an Islamic Jihad commander who is believed to be responsible for last week's suicide attack in Khadira.

The Israeli troops were on a mission to capture Zakarneh, who was killed with two others in a clash, the sources said.
