Four killed on S.C. hayride

FLORENCE, S.C., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- An 18-wheel truck rammed a tractor pulling a trailer full of people on a hayride in South Carolina, killing four people including a toddler.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol identified the dead as Jerry Wayne Jones, 31, of Dillon; Freddie Lynn Jones, 25, of Marion; Javon Jones, 2, of Marion; and Shewanna Oyma Lowery, 23, of Dillon.

The Florence (S.C.) Morning News reported the 20 people, ranging in age from 2 to 40, on the hayride were thrown from their trailer on impact in the Saturday evening accident. Several people were hurt and taken to hospitals with injuries.

No charges were immediately filed.
