NEW YORK, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- A New York City handyman has confessed to killing one of his girlfriends and then burying her body in concrete, police said.
Charles Tolarba, 43, told police how he smoothed out the concrete and neatly placed carpeting over 41-year-old Mary Jane Leman after he beat her to death, a source told the New York Daily News Saturday.

"He was sitting there like a total gentleman, like he was concerned for her well-being," said a police source familiar with the interrogation.
Tolarba shared an apartment with Leman, but Leman's body was found Friday in the Brooklyn basement of a woman described as a girlfriend of Tolarba's. It's unknown if the Brooklyn woman played any role in the killing.
