The two countries, along with Japan, Russia, South Korea and the United States have been in on-again, off-again talks regarding North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

In a statement after a meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao, Kim said an end to the nuclear issue will come from the talks.

Hu said he will "push for new progress" in the next round of talks.
