Family killed by burning charcoal

NEW YORK, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A New York man apparently killed himself and his family by burning pots of charcoal that filled their apartment with carbon monoxide, police say.

The bodies of Fred Wang, 42, his wife Christine, also 42, and their children, 8 and 6, were found by a relative. Authorities say the family may have been dead several days.

"Preliminary information indicates this may have been a suicide," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told the New York Daily News. "There's some indication it may have been intentionally set by one of the occupants in the apartment."

Wang, the president of his own commodities trading company, FCW Trading Inc., sent a letter to a relative in Taiwan saying he was going to kill himself and his family because of a business deal gone wrong, police said.
