Brothers die in separate crashes

LAKE CITY, S.C., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Two brothers in South Carolina died in car accidents three days apart, reports the Florence (S.C.) Morning News.

Perry Harrell of Lake City was killed last week. Three days later, on his way to Perry's funeral, his brother Larry, 44, was killed in a car crash near Kingsburg. Three other passengers also were injured in that accident, says the report.

"We're just in a numb state right now," said the victims' sister Sherry. "You just don't believe something like this could ever really happen, especially to your own family. It's like a terrible dream."

On their way home from the funeral, Sherry and her family passed a bad car accident on U.S. 378. Little did they know, Larry Harrell was among its victims, the report said.

"We passed by the wreck and I remember we all said, 'Please God, don't let that be somebody we know,'" she said. "We didn't know it at the time, but it was Larry."

The sister said: "Larry was the kind that didn't have a whole lot, but he was happy with what he had, and Perry was pretty much the same way."
