Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist
BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- The ruling Peronist Party in Argentina hopes Sunday's legislative elections will solidify its power.
The election also will end a power struggle within the party, the BBC reports.
Half of the seats in the country's lower Chamber of Deputies and a third of the Senate are up for grabs.
Polls show President Nestor Kirchner's work since being elected in 2003 is expected to pull in enough votes.
His wife, Cristina Kirchner, is expected to beat Peronist Party rival Hilda Duhalde, the wife of former President Eduardo Duhalde, for a Senate seat representing Buenos Aires.
President Kirchner won the 2003 election with just 22 percent of the vote after his chief opponent, former President Carlos Menem, dropped out of the race.
