CAIRO, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- The Arab League blasted U.N. special peace envoy to the Middle East Alvaro De Soto Wednesday for defending Israel's right to build a security wall.
Arab League Secretary General Amr Mousa said an "official Arab complaint was lodged and sent to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Anan and the Security Council president" about De Soto's report.
"De Soto is wrong and his report is strange," Mousa said. "He showed that he is not a mediator and we have doubts that he will succeed in his peace mediation."
In a report to the Security Council, De Soto defended the right of Israel to build the wall inside Palestinian territory to ensure its own security.
