U.S. treasury secretary to visit Asia

BEIJING, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow travels to Japan and China next week for talks with his counterparts and a meeting of the Group of 20.

Xinhua, the official Chinese government news agency, reported that Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan is also expected to attend the G20 meeting of the world's richest nations and major developing countries outside Beijing on Oct. 15 and 16.

Snow's trip begins in Tokyo with meetings Monday and Tuesday with Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki. The two men are expected to discuss Japan's economic recovery and regional economic issues.

In China, Snow plans to spend three days meeting business leaders in Shanghai and to make a stop in the inland city of Chengdu before the G20.
