Former FBI head denounces Bill Clinton

WASHINGTON, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Former FBI Director Louis J. Freeh is highly critical of former President Bill Clinton in a new book and an upcoming television interview.

Freeh denounces the sexual scandals that surrounded the Clinton presidency, especially Clinton's liaison with Monica Lewinsky, and accuses Clinton of bungling the war on terror, the Washington Post reports.

In "My FBI: Bringing Down the Mafia, Investigating Bill Clinton, and Fighting the War on Terror," Freeh says the former president refused to press Crown Prince Abdullah to allow U.S. agents to question suspects in the Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia.

"Bill Clinton raised the subject only to tell the crown prince that he understood the Saudis' reluctance to cooperate and then he hit Abdullah up for a contribution to the Clinton Presidential Library," Freeh said.

A Clinton spokesman, Jay Carson, called the book "a total work of fiction" and said Freeh did not witness the president's meeting with the prince.

Freeh appears Sunday on CBS's "60 Minutes." The book is being published by St. Martin's Press.
