Lebanon PM vows to combat, defeat terror

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora vowed Wednesday to combat and defeat terrorism, which targeted an anti-Syria journalist last week.

"We are at war with this enemy called terrorism ... It is a continuous battle against groups that carry out terrorist activities and we will continue to chase them till the end," Siniora said.

He expected the "terrorists" to become more tense and active as the deadline for the release of the report by the international investigation committee probing former prime minister Rafik Hariri's assassination draws closer.

"Those who will be harmed by the report will become more tense because they know they will be hunted ... This is a war which will definitely win," Siniora said.

Lebanon has been rocked by several bombing attacks and assassination attempts since Hariri's Feb. 14 slaying. The latest victim of terror was journalist May Chidiac who survived a bomb explosion in her car, but lost a leg and an arm.
