Clinton worried about Putin

NEW YORK, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has told a Russian newspaper he is worried about increasing authoritarianism in President Vladimir Putin's administration.

Clinton was interviewed in New York by Izvestia.

"It's very important for democratically elected leaders to maintain a political balance to remain in the gentlemen's club of world leaders," he said.

Clinton has created the Clinton Global Initiative, an international group aimed at reducing poverty worldwide. The group has been billed as an alternative to the recent United Nations summit.
