LONDON, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Task forces looking for ways to undermine radical Islam in Britain recommend a media unit to wage a battle of ideas and an investigative commission.
The Guardian said it has obtained details of the plans to be submitted to Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The media unit would monitor and rebut unfair coverage of Muslims and provide rebuttals to extremist Muslims.
A royal commission to investigate the July 7 bombings on London's transport system would work in two stages, The Guardian said. In the first phase, the commission would examine the bombings in detail, looking for failures in security and recommending changes.
The second phase would deal with wider issues including whether British foreign policy contributes to Islamic terrorism and whether victims of terrorism should be compensated.
The task forces include Muslim members of Parliament, peers, academics and business leaders.
