AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Anti-war mother Cindy Sheehan headed for Houston Tuesday morning, part of a short tour scheduled to follow President Bush back to Washington.

Sheehan Wednesday left Camp Casey, the area near Bush's ranch where opponents of the Iraq war gathered. She addressed a rally of about 1,500 anti-war activists outside the Capitol in Austin, the Houston Chronicle reported.

"I really believe Camp Casey will be written about in our history books and Camp Casey will be given credit for ending the illegal occupation," Sheehan said.

The encampment was named after Sheehan's son, who was killed last year, a few days after he arrived in Iraq. She told her supporters she visited Austin several times while her son was stationed nearby and it was difficult to be there without him.

In Houston, Sheehan planned to deliver leftover supplies from Camp Casey for hurricane refugees being sheltered at the Astrodome, to visit the congressional office of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, and to speak at a local church.
