Saudis seize four Iraqi infiltrators

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Saudi police clashed with four Iraqi criminals who infiltrated the kingdom's eastern province, allegedly in a car theft and smuggling operation.

Interior Ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Mansour Turki said Tuesday that one of the criminals was injured in the Monday night clash.

"The criminals opened fire at a police patrol as it tried to get near them. ... The police officers returned fire, injuring one and arresting the other three," Turki said. The police seized two stolen cars.

After interrogation, the criminals admitted having a local accomplice, who was arrested later, Turki said.
