Saudis arrest 3 more terror suspects

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Saudi security forces arrested three suspects in Saudi Arabia believed to be linked to Saleh al-Oufi, the al-Qaida operative killed by police Thursday.

Security sources quoted in daily al-Medina Saturday said the suspects were seized in the city of Medina and are being interrogated about their possible connection with al-Oufi.

Nine other suspects were rounded up in Medina the same day al-Oufi and another accomplice were killed and a third wounded in clashes with police north of Riyadh.

The sources identified al-Oufi's slain accomplice as Mohammed Awida, a former Saudi champion in Tai Kwan Do.

Al-Oufi was on a list of 26 most-wanted terror suspects issued by the Saudi authorities in 2003. Only one person on that list remains at large -- Taleb al-Taleb -- while the rest have been either captured or killed.

The authorities released a second list of 36 wanted suspects last June. Of that list, 31 remain on the run.
