Missing pregnant woman found dead

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- The boyfriend of a pregnant Philadelphia woman who disappeared a month ago has been charged with killing her.

WCAU-Channel 10 reports Stephen Pouches was arrested after LaToyia Figueroa's body was found in a wooded area in Chester, south of Philadelphia on the Delaware River. The station, citing police sources, said investigators followed Pouches and observed in the act of dumping the body.

District Attorney Lynne Abraham said Pouches was wearing a bullet-proof vest and was armed with a pistol when he was arrested.

Figueroa had been reported missing July 21, three days after she was last seen. The young woman was five months pregnant and already had a daughter. Pouches is believed to be the father of her unborn child.

The disappearance became national news after bloggers questioned why the news media pay so much attention to the disappearances of white middle-class women like Natalee Holloway, the college-bound student missing in Aruba.
