TEL AVIV, Israel, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- A Katyusha rocket hit the city of Eilat on the Red Sea in south Israel, just a few miles from Jordan's Aqaba port, which was also rocked by blasts Friday.
Israel Radio quoted security sources as saying that the rocket which fell near Eilat's airport might have been fired from the Aqaba region.
The explosion caused no casualties and only minor damage to a car.
The radio said Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz contacted the security adviser of Jordanian King Abdullah in view of the simultaneity of the explosions in Aqaba and Eilat.
For his part, Israeli army Chief of Staff Dan Haltos accused al-Qaida network of standing behind the attacks.
"I cannot say if Israel was the target of the attack ... It does not matter if the target was Jordan or Israel," Haltos said.
