Russia sells Jordan transport planes

MOSCOW, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Jordan has inked a deal with Russia to purchase two new military transport planes, Novosti reports.

Viktor Livanov, General Director of the Ilyushin aircraft manufacturing company, announced the deal at a press conference.

He said the planes are Russian IL-76MFs which utilizes better technology than its predecessor transport planes.

Ilyushin recently sold two passenger planes to Cubana airlines and is currently developing new military planes with partners in India.

It also has developed a technique to contain explosives detonated mid-flight.

It's a special container that can withstand at least 1.1 pounds of TNT without damaging the plane.
