MILWAUKEE, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is calling for a "Millions More Movement" Washington unity march among blacks, Hispanics and other races.
Farrakhan, who spearheaded the historic Million Man March by African-American men in 1995, said at a Baptist Church in Milwaukee Sunday blacks and Latinos should form an alliance to correct the differences and animosity between the two communities.
He said blacks were once the largest minority in the United States, but have now been supplanted by Latinos, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Monday.
"Well, if you would stop killing yourselves, then maybe you could multiply better," he told the mostly black congregation.
Farrakhan also talked about slavery and called on blacks to provide goods and services within their communities instead of giving their money to merchants of different races.
The Millions More Movement march is scheduled Oct. 15 on the National Mall in Washington.
