BEIRUT, Lebanon, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Lebanese security Thursday arrested Muslim fundamentalist preacher Omar Bakri, a naturalized Lebanese of Syrian origin living in asylum in Britain.

Bakri, who was accused by the British authorities of inciting violence in Britain and approving the bombings that rocked London last month, was seized outside the offices of a private Lebanese television station.

He was walking out of the Future television station, which reportedly wanted to interview him, when he was arrested.

A security source told UPI General Security officers were interrogating Bakri about certain matters, which he did not identify, but stressed no charge was filed against him.

Bakri entered Lebanon last week regularly through Beirut airport coming from London.

The source said British authorities did not ask Lebanon to extradite or hand over Bakri, who leads the fundamentalist group, al-Mouhajiroun, in Britain.
