Storm in Lithuania causes power outage

VILNIUS, Lithuania, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- A storm in Lithuania has cut power from the homes of 35,000 residents Wednesday, Itar-Tass reports.

The downpour that began Saturday is slowing progress in repairing the power lines.

Forest roads are impassable and many of the downed power lines go through the forests.

Houses are partially flooded as the water levels in some rivers have risen nearly a foot.

Emergency crews are busy clearing trees from roads as normally short commutes to cities like the capital Vilnius take hours.
