Gaza pullout entails no PA commitment

AMMAN, Jordan, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Chief Palestinian peace negotiator Saeb Erekat said Israel's upcoming withdrawal from Gaza entails no commitments on the part of the Palestinian Authority.

In a lecture to the Association of International Affairs in Amman published Wednesday, Erekat said the Israeli pullout is a unilateral move and not coordinated with the Palestinians.

He stressed that the Palestinian Authority will not accept to have provisional borders for the future Palestinian state, noting that "we will not negotiate on Gaza's final borders without the West Bank because it is a matter for final settlement negotiations."

"We are ready now for the choice of the two states as stipulated by the 'road map,' which calls for establishing a Palestinian state in the territories captured by Israel in 1967," Erekat said.

He accused Israel of seeking to modify realities on the ground through the construction of the wall and new settlements in the West Bank.
