BEIJING, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- The six-countries involved in North Korea nuclear discussions will take a break after day 13 ended in deadlock.

The roadblock is reportedly between North Korea and the United States.

North Korea says it must develop nuclear weapons because of a nuclear threat from the United States.

It also says it has the right to develop nuclear energy to generate electricity.

The United States wants to trade aid and security guarantees in exchange for an end to the weapons program.
