Aug. 4, 2005 at 4:06 PM

MOSCOW, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- More than $20,000 in counterfeit U.S. currency has been confiscated in the Moscow region, Russian authorities say.

Police detained three men in the town of Krasnoznamensk and took hundreds of bogus $100 bills from them, Itar-Tass reported Thursday.

Police said there was evidence the men had circulated forged dollar denomination bills in the area for some time. An investigation was under way.
