British police look for racist killers

HUYTON, England, July 31 (UPI) -- Police in Britain are asking for the community to help Sunday to find the people involved in the gruesome racist murder of an 18-year-old black man.

The BBC reports that Huyton resident Anthony Walker died at the Walton neurological center Saturday, a day after his murderer hit him in the head with an ax.

Meanwhile, later published reports say at least one suspect has been arrested.

Walker, his white girlfriend and his cousin were waiting at a bus stop Friday night when a group of white men began yelling racist remarks at them.

The three decided to walk to another bus stop and were chased into the woods.

Walker's cousin and girlfriend ran for help when one of the assailants embedded the ax in his head.

Police are hoping that surveillance cameras in the area will provide details of the incident.

They also think the killers live in the area and are asking residents not to hide them.
