Violence claims more lives in Iraq

BAGHDAD, July 28 (UPI) -- Five people, including three U.S. troops, were killed in separate incidents in various parts of Iraq Thursday, security sources and the U.S. army said.

An army statement said in addition to the three dead, six U.S. troops were injured in incidents north of Baghdad. It gave no details about how the incidents occurred.

The latest casualties increased the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq since March 2003 to 1,785.

Iraqi police, in the meantime, said a man was killed when a bomb exploded under a train carrying oil products to the refinery of Dora in Baghdad. The explosion caused a large fire.

In Kirkuk, in northern Iraq, gunmen assassinated Saleh Jabbouri, a member of the local Arab Consultative Council.

Also, 10 employees of the Ministry of industry were wounded when gunmen sprayed them with automatic rifle fire in a northern suburb of Baghdad.
