Sunnis resume work on Iraq draft

BAGHDAD, July 26 (UPI) -- Twenty-five Sunni members of the committee drafting Iraq's new constitution Tuesday ended their boycott, which had jeopardized the process.

Committee member Salim Abdullah said the Sunni representatives, including 15 original members and 10 advisers returned to the committee after the government accepted their conditions, including ensuring their personal security and investigating the slaying of two Sunni members killed two weeks ago in Baghdad.

The Sunnis also objected to the declaration of the committee's president last week that the draft will be finalized within two days, without the approval of the Sunni representatives who have been contesting several articles.
