AMMAN, Jordan, July 26 (UPI) -- Jordan Tuesday welcomed Arab League efforts regarding an emergency Arab summit to discuss latest developments in the region.

Deputy Prime Minister Marwan Muashar said Jordan had not received official notification about a summit, "but backs by principle any efforts for hammering out a common Arab vision on how to deal with developments in the Arab world."

Arab League Secretary-General Amr Mousa said Monday that he is undertaking serious efforts for an emergency Arab summit in Egypt to review regional developments in light of Israel's scheduled withdrawal from Gaza in mid-August.

Reports said the summit might be in the first half of August at the league's headquarters in Cairo.
