Sudan Guantanamo prisoner released

KHARTOUM, Sudan, July 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. authorities released a Sudanese prisoner from the military prison base in Guantanamo, Cuba, the Sudanese News Agency said Thursday.

Hamad Amno Jadallah was repatriated to Sudan aboard a U.S. military plane. He was the third Sudanese national to be freed from Guantanamo.

A spokesman for the Sudanese security and intelligence department said a visit by intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Salah Abdullah to Washington during which he discussed the issue of Sudanese prisoners in Guantanamo last April help secure Jadallah's release.

He said the Sudanese government planned to step up efforts to ensure the release of all Sudanese inmates at Guantanamo.
