GURNEE, Ill., July 20 (UPI) -- Power outages at the Six Flags Great America amusement park in Illinois stranded passengers on roller coasters and shut down rides for more than two hours.
More than 500 people were riding the park's 13 roller coasters when two power outages happened Tuesday afternoon, a Six Flags spokeswoman told the Chicago Tribune.
All passengers were unloaded safely, the spokeswoman said, even though some people were stuck on The Demon roller coaster for about 20 minutes.
"It was really hot," said Demon rider Sedrak Kesheshian, 17, of Worth, Ill. "We had to walk down. They just led us off."
"We had a few tears," said Chris Edwards of Mongtomery, Ill., who was at the park with her three young children and husband. "We said they better do something -- we paid a lot of money to get in here."
While Six Flags did not give refunds, it did hand out passes for another day.
