COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho, July 10 (UPI) -- DNA results on human remains found in Montana last week have been positively identified as those of Dylan Groene, a police statement said Sunday.
The FBI Lab in Quantico, Va., made the positive identification of the remains of the 9-year-old boy, who had been missing since May 16, said a media release from the Kootenai County Sheriff's office in Idaho.
The statement also said the police investigation is continuing, but out of respect for the Groene family and to maintain the integrity of the investigation and prosecution, there would be no further comment on the results, reported ruralnorthwest.com.
Dylan Groene and his younger sister Shasta had been missing from their Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, home where their mother, older brother and mother's boyfriend had been killed almost two months ago.
Denny's employees called police last week when they spotted Shasta Groene entering the Coeur d'Alene restaurant with Joseph Edward Duncan III, of Fargo, N.D. Duncan has been charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, and could face the death penalty in Idaho.
