Brazil denounces London terror

GLENEAGLES, Scotland, July 7 (UPI) -- Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva denounced the terror attacks in London Thursday while meeting with world leaders in Scotland.

"Brazil expresses it most firm condemnation of this deplorable terrorist act," said Lula.

South America's largest nation has been a vocal supporter of the war on terror though Lula has spoken out against the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

The Brazilian leader is at the G-8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland, for talks with leaders from Japan, India and Germany.

The three nations along with Brazil are vying for a seat on the U.N. Security Council, which is set to expand its ranks.
