Bomber's letters show no remorse

SARASOTA, Fla., July 5 (UPI) -- Eric Rudolph's mother said she shared his letters with USA Today to give the public a more balanced view of the man who admitted four bombings.

The letters show a loving son, a man who retains a sense of humor when he tells his mother he feels like a caged zoo animal being shown to visitors and a killer who still feels his acts were justified. Rudolph killed two people at an Atlanta park during the 1996 Olympics and a Birmingham abortion clinic and wounded 200 in those bombings and others at a gay nightclub and another clinic.

"Despite my many flaws, I still hope that you can find it in your loving selfless heart to forgive me," Rudolph said in a Mother's Day card to Pat Rudolph. "And even though I cannot apologize for being who I am and expressing myself in the way that I did, it troubles me greatly that you had to experience any hardships because of my deeds."
