MADRID, June 30 (UPI) -- Spanish lawmakers approved a report Thursday accusing former Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar of manipulating the facts a bombing in Madrid last year.

The report claims Aznar manipulated the facts surrounding the March 11, 2004, train bombing immediately after the blast, hoping to win the presidential elections three days later.

Socialist candidate Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero won the election, even though he had been regarded as an underdog before the blast.

The Madrid train blast attributed to al-Qaida killed 191 people and injured hundreds more.

The report contends that Anzar's conservative Popular Party ignored warnings about possible terror attacks.
